The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch

The Princess Elizabeth is slated to marry Prince Ronald when a dragon attacks the castle and kidnaps Ronald. In resourceful and humorous fashion, Elizabeth finds the dragon, outsmarts him, and rescues Ronald--who is less than pleased at her un-princess-like appearance.

I read this book when I was little and loved seeing this anniversary edition. The forward by Chelsea Clinton is very apt. This story is one of a strong girl who is the heroine not the damsel. It shows how one can be a beautiful princess and also a fierce hero. It's a great book for our young people to help them challenge gender norms. Fill of giggles and adventure I absolutely recommend this. 5 stars.

Thank you Scholastic Australia for providing me with a copy of this book in return for my independent and honest review.
