Book Review - Mulan: Live Action Novelization by Elizabeth Rudnick

A thrilling novelization that will take readers back inside the world of the upcoming Walt Disney Studios' live action Mulan film to relive the adventures with their favorite characters, old and new.

The delay of this movie is sad but at least I have the book to read. I knew that it was going to be quite different from the original Disney cartoon version. The change in side characters and the lack of romance subplot actually made the story better to me. Nothing can ever replace Mushu but the fierce focus on Mulan as the protagonist, trying to save her father, her family, then her country was a brilliantly engaging story. I loved the way the author used the characters thoughts to add depth to the story, it also added some humor. Overall very impressed with this retelling and I fully encourage all Disney and middlegrade fans to read it. A well earned 4.5 stars!
