Book Review: Kristy and the Snobs (The Baby-Sitters Club #11) by Ann M. Martin

When her mother's remarriage takes her family into a much wealthier neighborhood, thirteen-year-old Kristy finds herself surrounded by snobbish girls who compare clothes, make fun of the Baby-sitters Club, and insult her aging dog.

Thank you Scholastic Australia for providing me a copy in return for my independent and honest review.

Oh my this was such a sad story. Make sure you have tissues handy. The part that spoke to me the most probably wasn't even the main focus of the story. Maybe that was the author's point? The premise seemed somewhat surface level and the characters weren't as developed as I would have liked. However this is a middle grade fiction book so that lack of depth is to be expected. I see how it is good for young middle grade readers though as it deals with loss. I also liked how it deals with different socio-economic groups drawing together over shared experiences/feelings. I don't want to spoiler it so I won't go into detail. I think if your child is reading this just be aware that they may come to you with some feelings and need a hug. I give this book 3.5 stars overall.
